Baptism

Baptism is one of the most important events in the life of a Christian. As Paul states, we are baptized through water and word into the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism is the bestowing of God's promises through Christ that all Christians can cling to throughout their lives, remembering that when they were sealed with the cross of Christ forever, they became a part of God's family forever. Baptism is a grace-filled water of life and a “bath of the new birth in the Holy Spirit,” as stated in Titus 3:5-8: "through the bath of rebirth and renewal of the Holy Spirit, which he richly poured out over us through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that through that very grace we may be righteous and h
eirs in hope of eternal life. This is surely most certainly true."

As Martin Luther stated, "Is it not true that the Word of God is greater and more important than faith, since faith builds and is founded on the Word of God rather than God's Word on faith? Furthermore faith may waver and change, but God's Word remains forever." (Martin Luther's Theological Writings, pp. 256-257) God's invitation to the family of faith is for all people, child and adult alike.
